Lovullo was tossed by home plate umpire Mike Muchlinski as he could be seen yelling from the dugout toward Muchlinski.
The umpire ejected Lovullo from the dugout, but after the signal had been given the manager ran on the field to share more of his thoughts with Muchlinski before exiting toward the clubhouse.
Lovullo was clearly upset and gesturing toward the umpire, likely arguing balls and strikes.
It was Lovullo’s fourth career ejection but first in 2019, according to the team.
Ildemaro Vargas got the D-backs on the board with a sac fly immediately following the ejection before Zack Greinke struck out as a pinch-hitter to end the inning.
