The Arizona Diamondbacks officially ended infielder Emmanuel Rivera’s season Sunday by placing him on the 16-day injured list with a fractured left wrist.

Rivera was a late scratch from Saturday’s lineup, and manager Torey Lovullo told Bally Sports Arizona’s Jody Jackson that Rivera’s 2022 was over.

The D-backs selected infielder Jake Hager Sunday from Triple-A Reno to replace Rivera on the roster and transferred Ketel Marte to the 10-day IL.

Arizona picked up Rivera at the trade deadline in a deal with the Kansas City Royals for reliever Luke Weaver.

Rivera produced right away with a .932 OPS in his first 20 games with the D-backs.

Hager returns after he was optioned to the Reno Aces on July 7.

He has since been designated for assignment, sent outright to Triple-A and hit a three-run home run in the Pacific Coast League championship to help the Aces win the title.

Hager has played 26 games in MLB this season, taking second base, shortstop and third base for the D-backs.

He will add defensive versatility for the final four games of the season.

The D-backs face the Giants at 1:05 p.m. Tune in on ESPN 620 AM or 98.7 FM HD-2.
