The Arizona Diamondbacks made a couple of roster moves ahead of Monday night’s game against the Dodgers in Los Angeles.
The D-backs placed shortstop Nick Ahmed on the injured list and selected infielder Jake Hager from Triple-A Reno.
However, there was no injury designation for Ahmed in the team’s press release.
This marks the second IL stint for Ahmed this season after beginning the year on the 10-day injured list due to right shoulder inflammation.
The shortstop has played in 17 games for the Diamondbacks in 2022.
In 54 plate appearances, the 32-year-old is slashing .231/.259/.442 with three home runs, seven RBIs, two doubles and two walks.
Hager, 29, is slashing .239/.363/.380 in 71 at-bats in 21 games for the Aces this season.
The infielder made his MLB debut last season with the New York Mets before getting designated for assignment and spending some time with the Milwaukee Brewers and Seattle Mariners organizations until getting claimed off waivers by the D-backs on July 30.
In 14 career games at the big-league level (nine with Arizona), Hager has only amassed 22 plate appearances in which he has garnered three hits, two RBIs, two runs and four walks.
The Diamondbacks begin the first of a four-game series in three days against the Dodgers at 7:10 p.m. on 98.7 FM Arizona’s Sports Station.
