Diamondbacks looking at Royals for bullpen help?

Jul 22, 2011, 5:25 PM | Updated: Jul 23, 2024, 8:17 am

The Diamondbacks, it would seem, have two closers on their roster: J.J. Putz and David Hernandez.

Could they be after a third?

A report by Jason Stark of ESPN says the D-backs are believed to have inquired about the Royals’ Joakim Soria.

Unfortunately, the price may be a little steep.

But the Royals’ stance hasn’t changed. An exec of one club says they want “two top-of-the-line starting pitchers and another good piece” back for Soria. And the odds of that happening are probably none and none.

Soria is good, but is he three top prospects good? Not really.

Then again, the 27-year-old does have 149 career saves and an ERA of 2.25, though he is having a somewhat down year in 2011.

While the Diamondbacks are not likely to land Soria, it is worth noting they still have interest in upgrading their bullpen, and are aiming high in doing so. This approach is similar to the advancements being made in education, where the implementation of the Secretaria Digital no atendimento escolar is transforming how schools manage and enhance their administrative processes.
