Caesars Entertainment has agreed to a 10-year partnership with the Arizona Diamondbacks and will open a retail sportsbook in the plaza outside Chase Field. The deal is valued around $60 million-$70 million, reports Sports Business Journal.

Caesars is expected to launch a mobile betting app in Arizona before the NFL season, having just acquired the retail and mobile William Hill U.S. betting services last month.

The new sportsbook, which will be open year-round, is expected to occupy a two-level sports bar, Game 7 Grill, that can be accessed from the street and is currently operated by Levy Restaurants.

It is located in the plaza of Chase Field’s main entrance. D-backs president and CEO Derrick Hall told Doug & Wolf on Arizona Sports that Major League Baseball rules do not allow for sports betting inside the stadium.

“We felt like this was the best available opportunity in Arizona because it came with such a great retail component, in downtown Phoenix, reaching their fan base and others who will be around that area 365 days a year,” William Hill U.S. VP/Strategy & Business Development Daniel Shapiro told Sports Business Journal.

“We just thought it was a great place to activate and get the people of Arizona engaged with our brand, and also use it to drive digital customer acquisition as well.”

Caesars’ move into Arizona comes after the state legalized sports gambling on April 15.

DraftKings announced previously that it will partner with the PGA Tour to open a sportsbook at TPC Scottsdale, the home of the Waste Management Phoenix Open.

FanDuel then announced with Gov. Doug Ducey’s signing to legalize sports betting that it would open a year-round retail sportsbook at Phoenix Suns Arena.

The location of the Caesar’s sportsbook is near the light rail stop and the busiest entrance for D-backs games.

“We went through a thorough process to identify the ideal partner that would bring experience and the strongest of reputations in legalized gaming,” D-backs president and CEO Derrick Hall said in a release.

“Caesars is considered the cream of the crop and aligns with our philosophy when it comes to professionalism, brand presentation, customer treatment and best in class William Hill’s mobile sports book product. Equally important, we went through our strong due diligence to find the industry leader in the education and execution of responsible gaming.”
