The purple team has a 1-2-3 of Steve Finley, Tony Womack and Luis Gonzalez, who were all key pieces of the 2001 championship team.
The squad also includes Chris Young in right field, Shea Hillenbrand at third and Miguel Montero behind the plate.
As for the red team, former Sun Devil and D-backs middle infielder Willie Bloomquist will lead things off. David Dellucci is in center while Chris Snyder will call the game for Brandon Webb on the mound.
And no, your eyes are not deceiving you, that is indeed J.J. Putz hitting eighth and placed in left field.
The game is on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. prior to the 5:10 p.m. first pitch for the current D-backs against the San Francisco Giants.
The entire day will serve as a celebration of the team’s 20th anniversary. A team history video will be played at 2:15 p.m. before the three-inning exhibition, and a pregame recognition of the 20th-anniversary team will start at 4:30 p.m. before Gonzalez and Randy Johnson throw out the ceremonial first pitch.
Fans can find more information on the game at the team’s website.
