PHOENIX — Arizona Diamondbacks left fielder Lourdes Gurriel Jr. exited Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Dodgers with left calf tightness, manager Torey Lovullo said after the 14-3 victory at Chase Field.

Gurriel ran out a double play in the sixth inning and came up hobbled. He reached down to his lower leg and gingerly walked back to the dugout. Arizona quickly inserted Jorge Barrosa, who was recalled pregame with expanded rosters, into left field for defense with the D-backs ahead 10-3.

Lovullo called Gurriel day-to-day for now, but the outfielder will undergo imaging as soon as possible with Monday being a holiday.

Gurriel entered the game as one of Arizona’s hottest hitters with an .871 OPS in 24 games played during August. He has a .744 OPS this season with 17 home runs.

The veteran has played in 125 of Arizona’s 137 games played this season with 116 starts as a staple in the middle of the batting order.

Barrosa joined Arizona’s outfield depth, a group that includes Corbin Carroll, Jake McCarthy, Randal Grichuk and occasionally Pavin Smith. Alek Thomas is on the injured list (oblique) for Triple-A Reno.

Arizona is already missing right-handed bats Christian Walker (oblique) and Gabriel Moreno (adductor) from the lineup, along with switch-hitter Ketel Marte (ankle). Walker is getting close to a return, but Lovullo has not given a target date.
