Reports: D-backs ‘focused’ on selling conversations, Twins inquire on Ray

As the MLB trade deadline quickly approaches, the Arizona Diamondbacks remain heavily in trade rumors.

While the jury is still out as to whether or not the team will be buyers or sellers, one report suggests the team is looking to blow up the roster in hopes for future returns.

According to MLB Network’s Jon Morosi on Saturday, the D-backs are “focused intently on selling conversations.”

Morosi adds that Zack Greinke, Robbie Ray, Archie Bradley, Andrew Chafin, Greg Holland, David Peralta and Jarrod Dyson are names that are “definitely available,” and hints that the farm system could be a big factor in the team’s potential moves.

“Arizona has a vastly improved farm system,” Morosi tweeted. “And it’s about to get even better.”

While most of the players named have been included in trade reports this season, Bradley marks one of the few on the roster who has not come up nearly as much.

This season, Bradley has a 4.30 ERA and 1.65 WHIP in 41 games (46.0 IP) played this season. He’s allowed 49 hits, three homers and 22 earned runs, while striking out 64.

Greinke continues to show why he’s a top name in MLB.

Sporting a 10-4 record, the ace paces all D-backs pitchers on the team and sits in a tie for fourth in the National League for wins.

Holland has seen an up-and-down month of July, recording five straight saves to three blown opportunities. He was also pegged with two losses in July.

Holland holds a 3.51 ERA and 1.29 WHIP with 40 strikeouts through 37 games played (33.1 IP).

Chafin has recorded 14 holds in relief appearances and has one blown save this season. He’s 0-2 with a 3.79 ERA and 44 strikeouts.

Dyson and Peralta have combined to play in 159 games this season, recording 151 hits, 84 runs, 15 home runs and 65 RBIs.

Morosi also reported Saturday that the Minnesota Twins have inquired on left-handed pitcher Robbie Ray.

Although Ray accumulated a 5-6 record over the first three months of the season, the pitcher has seen a turn around in July.

After entering the month at 5-6, Ray has turned it on as of late, rattling off four straight wins to push his record to 9-6. In 22 games (123.0 IP), Ray has a 3.95 ERA to go along with 162 strikeouts. He’s currently first on the team and 10th in MLB in terms of strikeouts.

Ray sits second on the team in the wins department to only Greinke.

The Yankees, Phillies, Brewers and Astros are other teams reportedly linked to Ray.
