The Arizona Diamondbacks announced that right-handed pitcher Riley Smith will start on Tuesday against the Miami Marlins.
Smith, 26, made his second start of the season on April 28 in place of the injured Taylor Widener. Widener’s spot is next up in the rotation for Tuesday, and the right-hander was placed on the 10-day injured list on April 28 due to a right groin strain.
Smith also made a start on April 10, filling in the gap left by the then-injured Zac Gallen that Caleb Smith originally took before being moved to the bullpen.
Riley Smith in his two starts has given up 14 hits, one walk and five earned runs in 10.0 innings. Smith has a 4.76 ERA on the season over 17.0 total innings.
Outfielder Tim Locastro and first baseman Christian Walker were reinstated from the 10-day injured list by Arizona on Monday.
