The Phoenix Suns listed Kevin Durant as doubtful for Wednesday’s road game at the Oklahoma City Thunder due to a sprained left ankle.
Durant, however, will not suit up for his return to Oklahoma City, insider Chris Haynes and azcentral’s Duane Rankin reported hours before tip-off.
The Suns forward played 46 minutes in Monday’s overtime loss to the Portland Trail Blazers, appearing shaken up in the extra period.
His injury designation comes amid swirling trade rumors regarding his future with the Suns, as Wednesday will be Phoenix’s final game before Thursday’s trade deadline.
Arizona Sports’ John Gambadoro reported the Golden State Warriors have been aggressively pursuing Durant, while The Athletic added the Dallas Mavericks and Houston Rockets as interested parties in adding the 36-year-old superstar.
Durant made his 15th career All-Star Game this season, averaging 26.9 points, 6.1 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game on 52.4% shooting. He missed 10 games earlier this season due to a left calf strain and a left ankle sprain but has played in Phoenix’s last 26 contests.
The Suns enter Wednesday coming off back-to-back road losses in Portland, needing a win to stay above .500. The Suns, Sacramento Kings and Warriors are all tied at 25-24, jostling for play-in positioning in seeds 9-11.
Trade chatter tying Jimmy Butler to Phoenix persists as the deadline nears, but as Sports Illustrated’s Chris Mannix put it, the Suns are working two fronts in terms of buying and selling.
I said yesterday the Warriors have been aggressive in looking to see if the Suns would move KD. The Suns have gotten calls from quite a few teams on KD. I think a lot depends on if they can land Butler or not. https://t.co/u30Ucp42el

Durant is the only Suns player listed on the injury report.
Thunder injury report vs. Suns
The top-seeded Thunder are banged up as they continue to play without big man Chet Holmgren due to hip injury.
Cason Wallace (right shoulder strain), Nikola Topic (left knee surgery) and Ajay Mitchell (toe surgery) are all out.
All-Star guard Jalen Williams is questionable with a right wrist sprain.
Wednesday’s game tips off at 7:30 p.m. MST on 98.7 and the Arizona Sports app.
