Suns’ Devin Booker sets franchise record for 40-point games vs. Jazz

Phoenix Suns guard Devin Booker continues to dominate.

After already stringing together a stretch of impressive scoring nights, the guard exploded to the tune of 43 points in a 105-97 win over the Utah Jazz on Wednesday night.

Not only was it Booker’s second game with at least 43 points over the past five outings, it was the 16th in his seven-year career — a new franchise record.

With the scoring outburst, Booker now sits alone in that regard, surpassing former Suns forward Amar’e Stoudemire (15).

Booker got off to a hot start Wednesday night, scoring 22 of his 43 points in the first quarter alone as Phoenix cruised to a 39-18 advantage.

The guard didn’t just rip the twine, either.

On top of his 43-point night, Booker added 12 rebounds in the victory. He’s the first guard in Suns franchise history to record at least 40 points and 12 boards in a single game.

This season, Booker is averaging 25 points (second among NBA guards), 5.6 rebounds, 4.4 assists and a steal over 33.5 minutes per game. He’s shooting 44% from the field and 37.7% from long range.

Over the past nine games, however, Booker has taken things to another level, averaging 30 points on 44.2% shooting to go along with 5.9 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 1.2 steals over 36 minutes per game.

The Suns are back in action Friday when they take on the Minnesota Timberwolves. Tune to 98.7 FM Arizona’s Sports Station at 7 p.m.
