Arizona State and Southern Methodist basketball rescheduled a home-and-home series with the first game set for next season in Dallas, college basketball insider Jon Rothstein reported on Monday.

The second meeting will be played during the 2024-25 campaign at Desert Financial Arena in Tempe.

The original series was scheduled for the 2020-21 and 2021-22 seasons before it was canceled because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

ASU has not faced SMU since Dec. 29, 1995, when Bill Frieder was the Sun Devils head coach.

The Mustangs went 24-9 last year with a trip to the National Invitational Tournament (NIT). They faced one Pac-12 opponent, losing 86-63 against Oregon in Eugene early in the season.

SMU named Rob Lanier its new head coach earlier this offseason after Tim Jankovich — who had scheduled the previous home-and-home series with ASU — retired.

The Sun Devils are looking for a rebound campaign in Bobby Hurley’s seventh season in charge. ASU started the 2021-22 season 7-16 before rattling off seven wins in eight games to close the regular season.
