The rainy and cold Oregon weather didn’t stop the Arizona State Sun Devils Saturday night.

Neither could Oregon State’s defense.

The Sun Devils’ run game stomped on the Beavers, totaling 375 yards on the ground on the way to a 46-33 victory.

Quarterback Jayden Daniels ran in two touchdowns on the night, making this the third consecutive game where the sophomore has rushed and thrown for a touchdown.

His 53-yard rushing touchdown in the third quarter gave ASU a 33-15 lead.

Daniels surpassed 500 career rushing yards while also recording his first two rushing touchdown game. He went 8-for-15 with 139 yards.

“He’s always had the skill set of running,” head coach Herm Edwards told reporters via Zoom. “Most people don’t think he can run, but once you see him get in the open, he’s very elusive. He has good eyes, he knows when to get down to run.”

Running back Rachaad White finished the night with 158 yards and found the end zone twice for the Sun Devils on 13 carries (12.2 yards per attempt).

“We come out with a chip and we want to prove something every time,” White said of himself and his fellow running backs. “We just want to help. Whatever helps the team get the win.”

With a 29-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter, wide receiver Ricky Pearsall recorded his first rushing TD and was the fourth Sun Devil to score in the game.

ASU never gave up the lead it took early the second quarter on a deep 63-yard pass from quarterback Jayden Daniels to wide receiver Geordon Porter.

It was a career-long reception for Porter, who had 135 career receiving yards heading into the game.

The touchdown came after ASU’s defense recovered a fumble by Oregon State, setting up the Sun Devils to take over at their own 37-yard line.

A slick, wet field posed a bit of a challenge in the second quarter for the Sun Devils when the snap on an extra point attempt sailed high.

Chaos ensued when holder Michael Turk wasn’t able to fall on the ball. Oregon State recovered but was tackled and neither team earned points from it.
