The Pac-12 Conference on Monday announced its Hall of Honor class for 2022.

The class includes Arizona State football and wrestling athlete Curley Culp, as well as Arizona women’s track and field athlete Tanya Hughes.

Culp went from his hometown in Yuma to becoming an All-American nose tackle for the Sun Devils in Tempe across the late 1960s. Culp, however, chose ASU because the school allowed him to compete in both sports.

He went on to become a national champion in wrestling, winning the 1967 NCAA Tournament under the weight class of heavyweight. Culp was the first national champion in wrestling for the Sun Devils, a school that has now built up a very successful wrestling program with plenty of champions.

Culp’s athletic achievements beyond Arizona State was a 14-year NFL career in which he earned a spot in the Pro Bowl six times and later made the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2013.

Hughes was a seven-time All-American in the early 1990s, a stretch that included being named the 1994 NCAA Woman of the Year. Beyond her time as a Wildcat, Hughes participated for Team USA in the 1992 Olympics.
