Arizona State guard Austin Nunez will miss the remainder of the 2024-25 season due to a foot injury, Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports reported on Monday.
Nunez will have surgery, ending his season after only four games played. He has two years of eligibility remaining.
The junior returned to Tempe after playing his freshman season for ASU and then transferring to Ole Miss, where he spent the 2023-24 campaign.
He has played 45 minutes this year and shot 3-for-9 from the floor, 2-for-6 from deep, with seven rebounds, three assists, two steals and three turnovers.
As a freshman, Nunez appeared 28 games and played 16.3 minutes per contest. He averaged 4.5 points, 1.1 rebounds and 0.9 assists per game. He shot 37.7% from deep and 41.5% from the field.
ASU rebuilt its roster through the portal and freshman recruiting class. Missouri State transfer Alston Mason, returnee Adam Miller, freshman Joson Sanon and Milwaukee transfer BJ Freeman have earned the bulk of minutes in the backcourt.
The Sun Devils have started the season 8-1, just on the outside of the AP top 25. They return to action on Saturday against Florida at 1:30 p.m. in Atlanta.
