The redshirt freshman played in 13 games for the Tigers the past two seasons and has three years of eligibility remaining.
The 6-foot-2, 214-pound receiver was a former four-star recruit in high school but saw limited playing time and recorded three catches for a combined 16 yards in 2024.
In 2023, he appeared in four games but played only 13 offensive snaps.
Clemson and Arizona State could potentially meet in the College Football Playoff quarterfinal game in Atlanta on Jan. 1 if the Tigers upset No. 5 Texas on Saturday.
Johnson is the first player to transfer into Arizona State since the transfer portal opened on Dec. 9. The winter portal closes on Dec. 28. A group of current Sun Devils entered their names in the portal.
