Sun Devils, Wildcats appear on college football award watchlists

As college football season nears, the watchlists for the season’s biggest awards are beginning to trickle out. So far, five combined Arizona Wildcats and Arizona State Sun Devils have seen their names appear. Here is a list of those players and the awards they are up for.

Maxwell Award: Best player

Bednarik Award: Best defensive player (Voted on by Maxwell Football Club)

Merlin Robertson, LB, Arizona State

Colin Schooler, LB, Arizona

Davey O’Brien Award: Best quarterback

Doak Walker Award: Best running back

Eno Benjamin, Arizona State

J.J. Taylor, Arizona

Mackey Award: Best tight end

Bryce Wolma, Arizona

Rimington Award: Best center

Cohl Cabral, Arizona State

Josh McCauley, Arizona

Butkus Award: Best linebacker 

Tony Fields II, Arizona

Colin Schooler, Arizona

Outland Award: Best interior lineman

Nagurski Award: Best defensive player (Voted on by FWAA)
