Arizona Wildcats prospects for 2023 place top 30 in new rankings

May 28, 2022, 11:30 AM

Arizona basketball is coming off a Pac-12 regular season and post season championship and already looking to reload for the future.

After signing Estonian big man Henri Veesaar, Serbian forward Filip Borovicanin and inking two-time Arizona Gatorade Player of the Year in Dylan Anderson to their 2022 recruiting class, head coach Tommy Lloyd is already looking ahead to the class of 2023.

The Wildcats have two prospects lined up for two years down the road, giving the team a No. 3 ranking in the nation with both player ranked in the top 30 in a list compiled by 247Sports.com.

Not only are the prospects highly rated, they are both projected to be guards, which could conceivably fill out a full five-man starting lineup between the 2022 and 2023 classes in Tucson, should all five prospects pan out.

Point guard Kylan Boswell from Compass Prep in Chandler is a five-star prospect who comes in at No. 19 nationally and ranked as the No. 2 player in the state of Arizona for the class of 2023.

He gave a verbal commitment to the Wildcats back in February.

Shooting guard K.J. Lewis is from Texas and ranked No. 30 in the nation. He delivered his verbal commitment to the program back in March.

The Wildcats will need to plug roster spots from guard Benedict Mathurin, big man Christian Koloko and possibly guard Dalen Terry who all participated in the NBA Draft Combine and are eligible to be drafted in June.

Terry is seen as a fringe prospect and could still return to Arizona for his junior year.

Either way, after the 2022 season, the Wildcats will look to refresh the roster at guard.

With an influx of big men coming into the program this season, adding the right ball handlers and playmakers in the backcourt is a necessity to balance the team and keep the program trending toward a Final Four appearance.
