Following a loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in which Patrick Peterson injured his calf, the Arizona Cardinals aren’t sure whether he’ll miss even one game.

Head coach Kliff Kingsbury told the media Monday that Peterson will return soon for the Cardinals.

‘”I think Patrick — you know, he got banged up — but I think he’ll be day-to-day and hopefully is able to go this week,” he said. “If not, we have the bye and he’ll definitely be back the next game.”

Kingsbury made similar remarks to Bickley & Marotta on 98.7 FM Arizona’s Sports Station.

Week 11 presents yet another matchup with the San Francisco 49ers, this time on the road Sunday at 2:05 p.m. The Cardinals just hosted the 49ers for Thursday Night Football on Halloween in Week 9.

Then, the Cardinals get a bye week in Week 12. That might be an incentive to sit Peterson out against San Francisco if the team feels there’s risk of further aggravating the calf injury. Week 13 is a game at home against the Los Angeles Rams.

Peterson missing any time would be only more detrimental to the Cardinals, who already had to get through the first six weeks without him while he was suspended. He also was criticized heavily for a poor performance in the aforementioned game against the 49ers.

This season, Peterson has played four games and has one interception, one pass defensed, a sack, a forced fumble and 19 tackles. According to Pro Football Focus, he has allowed an opposing passer rating of 126.4 this year.

The first injury report won’t come out until Wednesday, when everyone will know more about whether he’s participating in practice.
