Aside from getting the first win of the season, there was added motivation for the Arizona Cardinals in Week 5 after owner Bill Bidwill passed away on Wednesday.

Paul Brown Stadium in Cincinnati held a moment of silence for Bidwill before the game and many of the Cardinals players cited the owner as a source of inspiration after the game.

The Cardinals even displayed a sticker on the back of their helmets for the man many referred to as “Mr. B.”

“It was very huge. Mr. B, you know, everyone loves him, everyone loves this organization and it’s really good getting this W first for the Bidwill family and for (coach) Kliff (Kingsbury),” running back David Johnson said after the game.

For his part, Kingsbury made it a point to honor Bidwill’s son and Cardinals president Michael Bidwill after the game as well.

“Michael does a tremendous job of taking care of all of us,” Kingsbury said. “To do that and give that game ball to him, it meant a lot to all of us.”

Especially for the longest tenured player on the Cardinals as well.

Mr. B was the first person on Larry Fitzgerald’s mind following the team’s win.

“It was a highly emotional game. One that was really important to us after losing Mr. B this week,” Fitzgerald said. “We wanted to come out and honor him and his legacy and there’s no better way to be able to do that than getting a win.

“After last week, it put life in perspective and I think everyone was able to kind of look at how fortunate and blessed you really are. You know, life is fragile.”
