Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray was in attendance for Tuesday’s Game 5 of the opening-round series between the Phoenix Suns and Los Angeles Lakers.
And sitting not too far away from the signal-caller was teammate J.J. Watt on the night before the Cardinals’ first OTA session this offseason.
Wednesday marks the first day of voluntary workouts for Arizona.

Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer called the young QB into question on Monday for not being in Arizona for the Cardinals’ offseason program.
I think it was interesting to hear this week that Kyler Murray hasn’t been in the Cardinals’ offseason program to this point. I’m told he’ll be there soon and has worked out with teammates in Dallas (where he spends his offseason). And this may just be the way these things are going in pro football in general. But it’s at least notable that Murray’s choosing to work out in Texas, rather than Arizona, to get himself in the right place for his third year, which is a critical one for every first-round quarterback.
Around the NFL, players from numerous teams had made statements about not attending in-person voluntary workouts due to health and safety.
However, Arizona was not one of those teams.
Instead, Cardinals players sent a letter to head coach Kliff Kingsbury and GM Steve Keim to express their views.
Both the team and players agreed to cut their original 10 OTA workouts down to three.
The Suns beat the Lakers 115-85 in Game 5 to take a 3-2 series lead.
