Chandler Jones listed among NFL’s top overproducers for 2019 Cardinals

Chandler Jones posted record-breaking sack totals in 2019, becoming the Arizona Cardinals franchise-record holder for sacks in a single season with 19.
His sack totals since joining the Cardinals in 2016 have been well documented, placing him first in the NFL through that time span with 60.
While many words have been used to describe his feats, the LB can add overproducer to the list.
Jones was named as one of five players who overproduced last season in an article by Gil Brandt of NFL.com.
Although Brandt acknowledges that Jones is “a bonafide stud,” he was still impressed by the high rate of production in spite of the lack of playmakers around him.
“Jones was one of only six players last season to notch double-digit sacks without having at least one teammate also finish with six or more sacks, and of those, only the Saints’ Cam Jordan (15.5) came close to matching Jones’ sack total,” Brandt said.
The Cardinals should get a boost this season following the additions of Jordan Phillips on the defensive line, rookie Isaiah Simmons and free agent signee Devon Kennard at linebacker and full seasons of production from Robert Alford and Patrick Peterson at the cornerback positions.
Without those players last season, Arizona’s defense ranked as the worst in the NFL in yardage allowed.
For Jones to finish second in the league in sacks, tied for first in forced fumbles and earn first team All-Pro designations while playing for one of the leagues worst defenses is quite an extraordinary accomplishment.
He was joined on the list by Tampa Bay linebacker Shaquil Barrett, Carolina wide receiver D.J. Moore, Jacksonville quarterback Gardner Minshew and Green Bay running back Aaron Jones.
