The Arizona Cardinals have found their new defensive line coach in University of Minnesota’s Winston DeLattiboudere, according to 247 Sports.
DeLattiboudere has served as Minnesota’s defensive line coach for the past two seasons and added assistant head coach to his titles ahead of the 2024 season. He also played on the Gophers’ defensive line from 2015-19 and totaled five sacks and 15 tackles for loss in his career.
The hire comes after the team parted ways with previous coach Derrick LeBlanc, who had been with Arizona since the beginning of Jonathan Gannon’s tenure as head coach.
Cardinals defensive linemen were battered with injuries in 2024, contributing to the group’s underperformance.
DeLattiboudere led a turnaround from 10.5 sacks by the Gopher defensive line in 2022 to 20 sacks in 2023, his first season leading the position. The linemen totaled 17.5 in 2024.
Does Winston DeLattiboudere have any ties to 2025 NFL Draft?
Minnesota edge rusher Jah Joyner, No. 164 on PFF’s 2025 NFL Draft board, was among DeLattiboudere’s biggest developmental success stories, as he rose to be one of the Big Ten’s best edge rushers under his tutelage.
The five-year Gopher broke out in 2023 with 7.5 sacks, eight tackles for loss, two forced fumbles and one pass defensed, all of which were career highs. He followed it up with 4.5 sacks, six tackles for loss, two forced fumbles and seven passes defensed in 2024, earning all-conference honorable mentions for each season.
Defensive line and pass rush are among the biggest needs for the team to address as the offseason unfolds, and the Cardinals’ fifth round pick is currently slated for No. 153, Joyner’s projected range.
