ESPN’s Clayton: I think Dick LeBeau will join Arizona Cardinals

Jan 16, 2015, 5:28 PM | Updated: 6:29 pm

If you pulled out the Magic 8-ball and asked it if former Pittsburgh Steelers defensive coordinator Dick LeBeau was going to end up with the Arizona Cardinals, it would probably answer, “Signs point to yes.”

From pretty much the moment he resigned from his post with the Steelers he has been linked to a job in the desert. Other circumstances since, such as Todd Bowles leaving Arizona to become the head coach of the New York Jets, only further the idea that Arizona is a good fit for the 77-year-old Hall of Famer.

“I think he’s going to be in Arizona because there’s more things to do,” ESPN NFL insider John Clayton told Doug and Wolf on Arizona Sports 98.7 FM Friday. “Because with the loss of Todd Bowles, now a linebacker coach goes, he can just come in there and work perfectly.

“So that’s why I think where it was probably going to be a tie between Tennessee and Arizona had Todd Bowles stayed, then I think now it’s pretty easy to say he’s going to stay in Arizona.”

One of the latest reports has LeBeau scheduled to meet with the Cardinals and head coach Bruce Arians next week about a senior coaching position on the staff. The Cardinals, it seems, are more likely to promote someone already on the staff to the defensive coordinator role, with LeBeau being there to help out and provide his insight.
