Former Bears receiver Kevin White signs with Cardinals

Former first-round pick and Chicago Bears wide receiver Kevin White inked a one-year deal with the Arizona Cardinals on Friday.

Linebacker Jordan Hicks (four-year deal) and guard J.R. Sweezy (two-year deal) also officially inked contracts on Friday, the team announced.

After finishing with 109 receptions for 1,447 yards and 10 touchdowns as a senior for West Virginia, White was the seventh overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft by the Chicago Bears. At 6-foot-3 and 215 pounds, White ran a 4.35 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine.

Injuries have been the story of White’s career. He’s only played in 14 total NFL games over four seasons with the Bears.

White did not play in his rookie season, dealing with an injury to his left shin that ultimately led to a stress fracture in OTAs. After four games in the 2016 season, White fractured his fibula in that same left leg and missed the rest of the season.

As a starter the following season, White fractured his left shoulder blade in the first game of the season and was ruled out for for the third straight year.

White sparsely played last year for a 12-4 Bears squad, recording 19 catches for 187 yards.

The Cardinals had a spot to fill at wide receiver next to the returning Larry Fitzgerald and impact rookie Christian Kirk. Former third-round pick Chad Williams and Trent Sherfield also return and will compete for a starting role, as does late-season pickup Pharoh Cooper.
