Not many predicted the Arizona Cardinals would be able to select a quarterback in the 2018 NFL Draft.
Few thought they would move up, and probably even fewer thought they would jump to No. 10 in a trade with the Oakland Raiders as UCLA quarterback Josh Rosen remained on the board.
Well, it happened.
As a junior for the Bruins, Rosen completed 62.6 percent of his passes, threw 26 touchdowns to 10 interceptions and compiled 3,756 yards through the air in 2017. Yet, his injury history and outspoken nature apparently raised enough red flags for other teams to move other quarterbacks higher on their big boards.
Fellow quarterbacks Baker Mayfield, Sam Darnold and Josh Allen went in the first seven selections on Day 1 of the draft on Thursday before Arizona traded the No. 15 pick, No. 79 pick and No. 152 picks to Oakland in the deal.
Here’s how the social media world reaction to the Cardinals’ draft-day move.
Motivated beyond words…let’s go win championships, @AZCardinals. #BeRedSeeRed

Josh Rosen to the Cards! In my view this is the best QB fit for the Cards, great pick and great trade by Keim. 🏈

Not saying history will repeat itself, but the last time the #Cardinals selected a So Cal QB from an LA school with the 10th pick, it didn’t work out so well. (for the record: I like this maneuver/pick a lot!)

Troy Aikman on Josh Rosen: "The kid's from UCLA. Of course he's smart!"

Ooof. Really bad fit for Josh Rosen in Arizona. He's going to spend all of his time worrying about fair wages for immigrants and Colorado River water rights.

Josh Rosen’s dad is having a great day…not only did his son just get drafted in the top 10, but he’ll also get to perform the surgery on Sam Bradford that makes his son the starter. #NFLDraft

Josh Rosen pros and cons:
—Good at throwing the ball
—Good at reading defenses
—Is literally Sam Bradford pic.twitter.com/UDP2mqP4fM— Kyle Neubeck (@KyleNeubeck) April 27, 2018
Love the Cards aggression but I think rosen will be as healthy as Bradford
