Moving on after Bruce Arians called it a career, the Arizona Cardinals were among seven NFL teams searching for a new head coach following the 2017 regular season.
They were the among the last to make their choice, hiring Carolina Panthers defensive coordinator Steve Wilks on Monday after a deliberate round of interviews with nine coaching candidates.
While several teams publicly made hires, a handful of others decided on their new coaches but couldn’t make the moves official until those coaches’ current teams ended their respective seasons.
It appeared that Arizona was last to finalize their hire, but after Super Bowl LII, the Indianapolis Colts’ expected hire of Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels was set back when the New England assistant opted to instead remain under coach Bill Belichick.
The Colts scrambled and reportedly have decided to hire Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Frank Reich to wrap the coaching carousel this offseason.
