Report: Former Cardinals WR Christian Kirk agrees to deal with Jaguars

Mar 14, 2022, 11:57 AM | Updated: 1:39 pm

Former Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Christian Kirk is reportedly headed to the Jacksonville Jaguars, per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero.

Pelissero reports that the contract includes a $20 million signing bonus with $37 million fully guaranteed.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter first reported the deal is for four years and $84 million, putting it at $21 million per season.

Arizona Sports’ John Gambadoro adds the Cardinals would not budge beyond an offer in the $11-13 million range.

Kirk, an Arizona native that played at Saguaro High School, wrapped up his fourth year with the Cardinals after originally joining the team as a second-round draft pick in 2018.

This past season, Kirk reeled in 77 receptions for 982 yards and five touchdowns. He paced all Cardinals pass catchers in catches and yards last year and trailed only DeAndre Hopkins (eight) in receiving touchdowns. He also accounted for 16 plays of at least 20 yards, tying A.J. Green.

Pro Football Focus graded out Kirk with a 72.1 rating, an increase from his 62 mark over the past two seasons.

With Kirk headed elsewhere, the Cardinals have Hopkins, Rondale Moore, Greg Dortch and Andy Isabella under contract as of Monday. Isabella, however, has been granted permission to seek a trade this offseason after recording just one catch for 13 yards in 2021.

Kirk isn’t the only 2021 Cardinal to agree to a contract with a new team. Earlier Monday morning, running back Chase Edmonds reportedly agreed to a two-year deal with the Miami Dolphins worth $12.6 million.

Arizona did, however, agree to a new contract with running back James Conner, who is back with the team on a three-year deal worth a reported $21 million that has $4.5 million in incentives with $13.5 million guaranteed.

The Cardinals also agreed to terms on Sunday to a three-year deal with tight end Zach Ertz and restructured offensive lineman Justin Pugh’s contract ahead of the legal tampering window.
