ESPN analyst Jaworski: Arizona Cardinals showing outstanding character

ESPN NFL analyst Ron Jaworski did not exactly compare the 2014 Arizona Cardinals to Chumbawamba.
But he may as well have.
“I’ve got to tell you, you have to be so proud of the Arizona Cardinals,” Jaws told Burns and Gambo on Arizona Sports 98.7 FM Friday. “You talk about a team getting knocked down, knocked down, injuries — I mean, most teams would have thrown in the towel a long time ago.
“Bruce Arians and his staff — if he’s not coach of the year, then nobody is. What this guy’s had to deal with, losing quarterbacks, you name it, this team has responded.”
See.
The Cardinals improved to 11-3 on the season with a 12-6 win over the St. Louis Rams Thursday night. The victory essentially clinched a spot in the postseason for Arizona, and allowed them to stay in front of both the Seattle Seahawks and Green Bay Packers in the postseason race.
And while people may not be impressed with the Cardinals’ roster, at least as it stands now, you can’t help but be amazed by what they’ve been able to accomplish given the adversity they’ve faced this season.
Jaworski sure is.
“And you’ve got to talk about the character of the players on the team,” he mused. “It’s like, ‘hey guys, just keep kicking us in the gut, and we’re going to keep coming after you.'”
However, while Jaworski has no issue praising what the Cardinals are doing, he added he does not believe the team is going to finish this season holding the Lombardi Trophy at University of Phoenix Stadium.
“And quite honestly, I know that’s a goal, but who cares,” he said. “You learn more about the character and fiber of this football team. They’re as good as any team in the NFL in that regard.”
