NAU center named Big Sky player of the week

Northern Arizona’s Shane Johannsen was selected as the Big Sky Conference men’s basketball co-player of the week Monday after leading NAU to home wins over conference leaders Northern Colorado and Montana last week.

Johanssen, a senior center from Phoenix, averaged 13.3 points, 4.7 rebounds, 2.7 blocks and 1.7 steals per game as the Lumberjacks improved to 14-8 and third in the conference.

He shared the award with Weber State’s Trevor Morris, another senior center who averaged 17 points and five rebounds in wins over Montana and Montana State at home.

Johanssen is averaging 10.1 points, 6.4 rebounds and 2.3 blocks per game this season.

This is his first career player of the week honor.
