SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – The Annual Silver Pro-Am at the Waste Management Phoenix Open was canceled Wednesday morning due to a frozen course.
“We looked at the golf course early this morning, tried to wait as long as we could to try and get 18 holes in,” said Slugger White, VP Rules and Competition with the PGA TOUR. “We knew if it got to 11:00 that it was going to be nine holes, and it just didn’t get any better. Jeff Plotts and his crew have been out there. The greens are still frozen. The approaches are frozen. And it just would do a tremendous amount of damage if we walked on it, just tracking everything up with the greens being frozen.”
Today’s Grayhawk Pro-Am, held at the adjacent Grayhawk Golf Club, has also been canceled due to weather along with the Triwest Healthcare Alliance Shot at Glory.
Temperatures are expected to remain in the low 30s throughout the rest of the day at the TPC Scottsdale.
Due to the cancellations, there will be no charge for anyone who comes to the tournament today. All unused general admission tickets for Wednesday can be presented at the ticket window and can be exchanged for a replacement ticket good for any following day.
