The Cardinals may be winding down their regular season, but the speculation surrounding defensive coordinator Todd Bowles is still heating up.
CBS Sports is of the opinion that Bowles could be a top candidate for the head coaching position in Atlanta. His work with the Cardinals defense after losing Darnell Dockett, among others, is cited along with his creativity:
“Bowles has thrown everything at the wall to get Arizona’s best players on the field, at times using as many as four safeties at the same time in hybrid roles. He’s brought pressure more than almost any defensive coordinator in the league trying to manufacture a pass rush. He’s coaxed excellent seasons out of on-the-cheap free agents like Antonio Cromartie and Tommy Kelly. The Cardinals are 11-4 and going to the playoffs despite losing two different starting quarterbacks in large part because of Bowles’ defense.”
Bowles could also be coveted by both the Bears and the Jets, according to an earlier report by CBS Sports NFL insider Jason La Canfora.
Arizona will play its last regular-season game Sunday against the San Francisco 49ers.
