Devin Booker’s rise chronicled in Nike film ‘Come out of Nowhere’

Feb 8, 2017, 1:10 PM

It has not taken long for Devin Booker to become the face of the Phoenix Suns franchise and, if he’s not that, then he is certainly their most popular player and greatest source of hope for the future.

In just his second NBA season, the 20-year-old is averaging 21.1 points, 3.2 assists and 2.8 rebounds per game while making 37 percent of his three-point attempts.

The 13th pick in the 2015 NBA Draft out of Kentucky, Booker just had a streak of games with at least 20 points end at 16. The stretch included back-to-back 39-point efforts against Dallas and San Antonio in Mexico City, and helped to further establish himself as one of the NBA’s best young players.

But while Booker is very highly thought of now, that was not always the case. His rise from young prospect to young star is in part chronicled in a Nike Basketball film, titled “Come out of Nowhere,” which features his father, Kentucky coach John Calipari, people who knew him growing up and, of course, Booker himself.
