Despite missing two games, this is the first year Arizona Cardinals defensive end Calais Campbell is earning some tangible recognition.
In addition to being selected to his first Pro Bowl for his 2014 performance, the seven-year veteran was named Friday to the All-Pro second team for defensive ends.
He received 11 votes, only trailing Houston’s J.J. Watt (45) and Buffalo’s Mario Williams (24) at the position. Fletcher Cox of the Philadelphia Eagles earned five votes and joined Campbell on the second team.
Campbell is so good on the line, apparently, that he even earned one vote as a defensive tackle.
In 14 games in 2014, the 6-foot-8 lineman posted 7.0 sacks, one interception, three passes defensed and 48 total tackles. He fell just four tackles short of the career-high 52 he accumulated in 2011, but he played in two more games that season.
Campbell was the only Cardinal to be named to a first or second All-Pro team, but several other Cardinals received one vote apiece at their respective positions: Jared Veldheeer (offensive tackle), Chandler Catanzaro (kicker), Larry Foote (linebacker) and Rashad Johnson (safety).
