Grizzlies’ Vince Carter elbows Suns G Devin Booker, gets ejected

Feb 28, 2017, 6:43 PM | Updated: 8:49 pm

The Suns and Grizzlies scuffled in their last game.

Apparently, that Feb. 8 Grizzlies win was only the beginning to what seems like a building hate for one another.

Phoenix guard Devin Booker was targeted by Memphis veteran Vince Carter’s elbow in the first quarter in their rematch Tuesday.

On a drive, the former Suns high-flyer flung his elbow as Booker hacked at the ball, knocking Booker to the ground. Suns center Alex Len took exception and approached Carter. A few players needed to be separated.

After reviewing film of the events, officials ejected Carter from the game.

Several weeks back, words between Booker and Grizzlies backup guard Troy Daniels turned into a scuffle, and after the game, Booker fueled their beef in postgame interviews.

“It’s just basketball, man,” Booker said after the game. “Talk trash sometimes. I don’t know why he’d be talking to me — been on five teams in three years and he has the nerve to talk trash to me, but it is what it is.”

What it is, perhaps, is a budding rivalry.
