The Arizona Coyotes recalled forward Anthony Duclair after the 21-year-old spent the last 16 games with the team’s AHL squad in Tucson.
Duclair recorded a goal and seven assists with the Roadrunners after he was demoted on Jan. 19. In 41 games with the Coyotes this year, the second-year forward struggled, collecting just three goals and six assists in 41 games.
With the Coyotes in 2016-17, Duclair has 58 shots on goal but converted 5.2 percent compared to 19 percent of those chances a year ago.
“Anthony is a good young player,” said Coyotes general manager John Chayka in a statement upon Duclair’s demotion. “Unfortunately, he has struggled this season. We felt this was a good time to send him to Tucson to work on a few things and hopefully regain his scoring touch. We hope to have him rejoin our team soon.”
As a rookie in 2015-16, Duclair scored 44 points, including 20 goals, the second-most in a single season in Arizona history.
