Darnell Dockett’s career with the Arizona Cardinals: By the Numbers

He’s a beast on the field, and never dull off of it.

Between sacking Ben Roethlisberger three times in the Super Bowl and live-tweeting jury duty, defensive tackle Darnell Dockett became a favorite among Arizona Cardinals fans.

On Friday, the Cardinals parted ways with the 11-year pro in a move to gain $6.8 million in salary-cap space.

The 33-year-old Dockett was selected by the Cardinals in the third round (64th overall) of the 2004 NFL Draft, 61 picks after the Cards selected future Hall of Fame wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald.

During his time in the Valley, Dockett became known as an intimidating force on the gridiron and an entertaining figure away from the game, especially on social media. During the 2014 season, an injured Dockett kept himself occupied by trolling opposing fans.

Here’s a look back at the permanent stamp Dockett left on Cardinals history, by the numbers:

2

Dockett is a workhorse. Until a preseason ACL tear forced him to miss the entire 2014 regular season, he had missed just two games over a 10-season span. Since 2004, he has appeared in more games at his position than any other NFL player.

Dockett recorded three sacks in the Cardinals’ 27-23 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers in Super Bowl XLII. He shares the single-game Super Bowl sack record with Reggie White, who had three for the Green Bay Packers in their Super Bowl XXXI win over the New England Patriots.
