Arizona Cardinals linebacker Alex Okafor arrested in Texas

Mar 9, 2015, 4:25 PM | Updated: 8:30 pm

NFL teams worry about the offseason in part for this very reason.

Arizona Cardinals linebacker Alex Okafor was arrested just after 3 a.m. Monday.

According to police, the Cardinals’ 2014 leader in sacks was taken into custody at 3:22 a.m. and was still in police custody as of 10:30 a.m. (Texas time).

Police say they were originally called out due to a disturbance, and when they arrived Okafor ran away. He has been charged with evading on foot as well as a previous Class C misdemeanor warrant.

A fourth round pick in 2013, Okafor missed most of his rookie season due to injury but recorded eight sacks in 13 games in 2014 while also intercepting one pass. The 24-year-old is expected to be a key part of the team’s defense going forward.
