As the renovations to Sun Devil Stadium continue, one of the most exciting aspects of the update is just getting started.
Construction of the new video board, which will be in the north end zone, has begun, the school announced on Friday. For anyone wanting to check in on the process, Arizona State has provided a live webcam.
The screen is set to be 48 feet tall and 113 feet wide, and the sheer size is notable not just because it is massive, but because it is a bit larger than the video board at Arizona Stadium in Tucson. The Wildcats’, you may recall, is 47 feet tall and 112 feet wide.
The new video board is part of a $268 million renovation that Sun Devil Stadium is going through, and when it’s all over with the place may hardly be recognizable.
Included among changes is reconstruction of concourse levels, restrooms and concession areas, as well as upgraded plumbing and electrical along with new seating. The lower bowl area will also see improved, and a new sound system will complement the video board.
