The Arizona Cardinals parted with one of the longest-tenured members of the team Thursday as they announced the release of center Lyle Sendlein.

The move frees up just more than $3 million in salary cap space. According to ProFootballFocus, Sendlein ranked 40th out of 41 centers last season, and late Wednesday the Cardinals signed guard/center A.Q. Shipley away from the Indianapolis Colts.

Sendlein, 30, joined the Cardinals as an undrafted free agent out of Texas in 2007. He started two games as a rookie, and took over as the role on a full time basis the following season.

In all, Sendlein played in 119 games for the Cardinals, starting 109. He was a team captain in 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2014.

Without Sendlein, the only two players who remain from the Cardinals’ Super Bowl XLIII team are defensive end Calais Campbell and receiver Larry Fitzgerald.
