Foul trouble, poor shooting and general stop-and-go basketball didn’t appeal to fans watching the NCAA Championship between North Carolina and Gonzaga.
The Tar Heels came away with a 71-65 victory, but not before fans ripped the refs.
Exhibit A: Gonzaga freshman Zach Collins attempting to gain position inside and being called for a questionable forearm to his defender off the ball. It gave Collins, who fouled out with five minutes to play, his third foul early in the second half.
Game changing call here, what a joke. pic.twitter.com/kcxSfH7bTF

Exhibit B: Przemek Karnowski was called for a flagrant foul on a play where UNC’s Joel Berry simply went for a ball and got a little roughed up.
HOW ARE YOU GOING TO CALL A Flagrant 1 on the player who the refs initially said GOT FOULED. pic.twitter.com/u01uCDgA1a

Anyhow, a whistle-happy officiating crew, who called 44 personals over the course of 40 minutes, angered everyone from Larry Fitzgerald, to LeBron James, to reporters, to Star Trek and Reading Rainbow star LeVar Burton.
And we are pretty sure former Gonzaga star and tanning-by-the-pool fan Adam Morrison was thinking the same thing.

Refs please let the kids decide the game. In the bonus with more than 10 mins left in the game. Come on!!#nationalchampionship
— Larry Fitzgerald (@LarryFitzgerald) April 4, 2017
The officiating in this game is robbing this teams of the chance to compete! #nationalchampionship

22 fouls were called in first 12 minutes of the second half, 39 total for the game with 8 minutes left

First Final Four in the West in two decades so naturally we get a Pac-12 refs tribute from the officials.

For these refs and their whistles tonight, the ceiling is the roof.

I'm EXTREMELY confident these officials will be getting a terrible evaluation. Not that that will comfort the losing coach.
