Former Arizona State Sun Devil and current Baltimore
Raven Terrell Suggs has reportedly tore his Achilles
tendon
and could miss the 2012 season, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
A source told Schefter the injury happened while Suggs was
playing basketball.
ESPN’s Rachel Nichols tweeted that she talked to Suggs
Thursday and he had an optimistic outlook on returning
some time during the 2012 season.
Suggs
told me reports he’ll be out all season will “make it so
much sweeter when I run out of that tunnel and prove
everyone wrong.”— Rachel Nichols

Suggs, the NFL’s Defensive Player of the Year in 2011, was
a
defensive end for the Sun Devils and set the NCAA single-
season record with 24 sacks in 2002.
In 2011 he had 14 sacks, made 70 tackles, forced seven
fumbles and had two interceptions.
The
Ravens released a statement early Thursday
saying that
they had been in contact with Suggs and he would be seeing
a
specialist early next week.
