The Cardinals will open the NFL season in the Hall of Fame Game against the Cowboys in Canton, Ohio.
On Tuesday it was learned they will be part of the opening of Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.
The Cardinals will travel and play the NFC Champion Falcons on Saturday, Aug. 26 because of construction conflicts that have moved back the opening of the stadium, according to ESPN FC.
Atlanta United was originally scheduled to open the stadium in July.
“We’ve worked very hard over the last few weeks to find any possible avenue to meet the July 30 timeline but have not been able to do so,” said Steve Cannon, CEO of the Arthur Blank Family of Businesses, which owns the new stadium and both teams. “Our construction partners have now worked through resequencing the remaining work and are very confident that we’ll be ready for live events beginning with the Falcons game on Aug. 26.”
The Falcons will play another game in the stadium five days later against the Jaguars.
The stadium has a capacity of 71,000 and cost $1.6 billion.
The Cardinals will also play the Raiders, Bears and Broncos in the preseason.
The full NFL regular season schedule will be announced on Thursday. A full list of those opponents can be found here.
