For those of us not making millions of dollars per year, paying $500 for a pair of shoes seems pretty steep.
For at least one coach in the NBA, paying $500 for a pair of shoes is just plain laughable.
Warriors assistant coach Mike Brown, who has taken over head coaching duties in Steve Kerr’s absence, was asked if he would pay $500 for a pair of shoes for his children. His response was laughter, a simple ‘no’ and more laughter.
The shoes the reporter was inferring to are the ZO2 Prime sneakers.
Big Baller Brand, an independent company ran by NBA Draft prospect Lonzo Ball’s dad LaVar, released its first shoe, the ZO2 Prime, on Thursday.
The internet went crazy as some people weren’t fans of the look, while others were incredulous there was a $495 price tag attached.
Shaquille O’Neal, of course, questioned both.
Hey @Lavarbigballer real big baller brands don't over charge kids for shoes. pic.twitter.com/N2U0VPXXyt

If nothing else, the ZO2 Prime kicks got attention, and when selling merchandise, that’s obviously a good thing.
But when shoes are drawing these types of reactions out of esteemed professionals in the league, something might be amiss.
