We’re used to A.J. Pollock and Paul Goldschmidt dominating pitchers when they come to hitter-friendly Chase Field. Both crush the ball when they play in Phoenix, with Pollock hitting .341 and Goldschmidt earning more hits on average at .384.

But another Arizona Diamondback is performing even better at Chase Field than those two.

It’s second-baseman Brandon Drury, who is hitting .448 at home as of Saturday afternoon, earning 30 hits in 67 at-bats. Adding his six walks, Drury reaches base nearly every other time he goes to plate, holding a .493 on-base percentage.

Among MLB players who have recorded at least 30 at-bats on the season, Drury leads all of baseball in home batting average.

In the 18 home games he’s played this season, only twice has he been held hitless, and only once has he been unable to reach base. He’s also earned a mutli-hit game in 10 of those occasions, tallying three home runs, eight doubles, one triple and 12 RBI on the year in the Valley.

There’s a drastic dropoff from his home batting average to how he performs on the road, where he’s batted a mild 8-for-50 (.160).

Sure, Chase Field is one most of the most friendly stadiums in the MLB for hitters (the most hits per game in the MLB happen there), but the D-backs’ second-baseman isn’t letting the advantage slip away.

He holds the 15th best batting average in the MLB and has his D-backs entering their matchup with the Pittsburgh Pirates at 15-6 when playing at Chase Field, the most home wins in baseball.
