Forward Jared Dudley will miss the next three to four months after undergoing a procedure Friday on his left toe ligament and bone, the Suns announced Tuesday.
That places Dudley’s return to full basketball activities just at the start of the 2017-18 regular season.
Dr. David Porter of Methodist Sports Medicine in Indianapolis performed the surgery.
Dudley averaged 6.8 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.9 assists in 64 games last season. He started seven games at the beginning of the year before rookie Marquese Chriss, a Second Team All-Rookie selection, took his starting power forward spot for the remaining 75 games of the year.
The Suns signed the 31-year-old forward last summer to a three-year deal to add a veteran presence willing to take a backseat to youngsters like Chriss and fellow 2016 first-round pick Dragan Bender, who at times took second team minutes from Dudley.
