Welcome to Arizona, Chester Taylor.
“It’s hot. I got to get used to this heat.”
Taylor braved the elements in his first Cardinals practice Wednesday. He was signed Monday after being released by the Bears over the weekend. “I’m glad to be here. I believe it’s a great opportunity, a better opportunity than I had with the Chicago Bears.”
Taylor lasted just one season in Chicago, rushing for 267 yards — not the kind of production they expected after signing him as a free agent following four seasons with the Vikings. Taylor believes the Bears didn’t use him right and that’s why he welcomes the chance with the Cardinals.
“For me to show my skills that I have shown throughout the years instead of always doing short-yardage goal line, what they had me doing in Chicago. I can do more: catching the ball out of the backfield and doing things like that.”
Of course, Taylor knows his role.
“Beanie Wells is the starting back so I’m just going to contribute any way I can right now.” Right now has him listed third on the depth chart behind both Wells and LaRod Stephens-Howling.
Going into his 10th NFL season there are many curious to know just how much he has left in the tank.
“You’ll have to wait and see and find out. I can show you better than I can tell you.”
