The Arizona Diamondbacks made four roster moves this weekend in an effort to have some fresh arms in the bullpen.

The club called up pitchers Braden Shipley and Jimmie Sherfy from Triple-A Reno while sending down J.J. Hoover and Silvino Bracho. Hoover and Bracho were sent down following Saturday night’s game.

Reliever T.J. McFarland will be making a spot start Sunday against the Minnesota Twins, his first of the season.

The first two starters of the series — Zack Godley and Zack Greinke — combined to pitch 9.1 innings, resulting in 6.2 combined innings pitched by Jorge De La Rosa, David Hernandez, Bracho and Hoover. Bracho was the only reliever to pitch in both games.

Shipley has pitched in four games this season for Arizona, starting twice. He’s sporting a 6.35 ERA in 11.1 innings. Despite being one of the more highly touted D-backs prospects, Shipley has also struggled in Reno. He owns a 6-6 record with a 6.06 ERA in his 18 starts.

The 25-year-old Sherfy has yet to pitch in the majors, with the 2017 season being the first he’s spent the entirety of at the Triple-A level. The reliever has 17 saves and a 3.33 ERA in 41 appearances. MLB.com ranks him as the No. 15 Arizona prospect. He will wear No. 54.
