Arizona Coyotes fans share their favorite Shane Doan memories
Wednesday was an emotional day in the Arizona sports world as Arizona Coyotes captain Shane Doan retired after 21 years in the NHL, all with the same franchise.
Doan’s play was always inspiring, but fans who followed him closely know it was more about the way Doan acted off the ice that made him such a memorable member of the community.
Doan’s had a substantial impact on the youth hockey scene in Arizona, as evidenced by 19-year-old All-Star forward and Scottsdale native Auston Matthews’ tweet.
My childhood idol growing up. Amazing player and an even better person. Congrats on an unbelievable career Doaner !

Taking the time after a Coyotes' practice to not only take a picture with our kids but also spend a few minutes chatting with them pic.twitter.com/wr3WNaU6a6

Really there are too many moments. I got to meet him at a 'Meet the Team' event, and I had to privilege of interviewing him last fall. #Doan pic.twitter.com/UkJUJLVak3

On the ice, witnessing his first hat trick after so many years. Off the ice, getting to know the incredible, sincere person that he is.
