ESPN Insider says Cardinals have most stable QB situation in NFC West

The NFC West is not exactly a division loaded with top-flight QBs, though it was generally thought that the Rams’ Sam Bradford was the best of the bunch.

However, after a week where the second year pro completed just 17 of 30 passes for 188 yards and zero touchdowns it seems as if the gap may be closing, through little fault of his own.

“I was quite honestly disappointed with the performance of Sam Bradford last week against the Philadelphia Eagles,” ESPN NFL analyst Ron Jaworski told Arizona Sports 620’s Burns and Gambo.

Jaworski pointed to Bradford’s supporting cast as reason to doubt him, saying the Rams have “maybe the slowest receiving core in the National Football League.”

Harsh words, but of the wideouts who caught a pass last week, none are exactly household names.

And, to top it off, the team lost Danny Amendola to a dislocated elbow.

“Then you look at Jason Smith, the right tackle, he got hammered last week and when you look at Bradford he had a very difficult time setting his back foot and delivering the football,” Jaworski added. “He struggled because of the pass protection.”

Nobody seems to be saying Bradford is a bad QB, just that his supporting cast could hold him back. One week in Arizona’s Kevin Kolb does not appear to have a similar problem, as he threw for 309 yards and two touchdowns.

“After one game, I would say right now Kevin Kolb may be the most stable quarterback in the division,” Jaworski said.
